Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an R&D Tech Center Operator for a leading food and beverage client. This individual will work in a pilot plant environment supporting the development and testing of new products prior to full-scale production. The role is heavily hands-on, involving operation of production equipment, execution of product trials, and troubleshooting of processes, while also requiring documentation and collaboration with engineers and scientists. This is a great opportunity for someone with a manufacturing background who wants to be involved in the innovation side of product development.
Day-to-Day:
Run and operate pilot plant equipment to produce small-scale batches of products
Set up, adjust, and clean manufacturing equipment during trials
Execute product trials and experiments to support R&D initiatives
Troubleshoot equipment and process issues during production runs
Collect, document, and communicate results from experiments
Maintain SOPs and ensure proper documentation of processes
Partner with engineers, scientists, and cross-functional teams
Track inventory of materials and support general plant operations
Assist with maintenance, calibration, and equipment upkeep

Skills and Requirements
Must-Haves:
1–2+ years of manufacturing / production experience
Ability to lift 40–50 lbs repeatedly
Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel)
Hands-on experience or comfort working with production equipment
Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Plusses:
Experience in beverage (ideal), food, cosmetics, or paper manufacturing environments
Prior exposure to pilot plant or R&D environments
Experience with SOP creation or documentation processes
Familiarity with QA, food safety, or regulated production environments
Basic understanding of PLCs or process automation systems
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering or R&D teams
