The Robotic Field Service Engineer will provide onsite repair, troubleshooting, programming, and maintenance services for FANUC robots and associated peripheral equipment. Work from a service center or remote home office to coordinate activities and offer hotline phone support between scheduled service calls. Must be able to travel within the assigned region, either on schedule or at short notice, to diagnose and resolve robotic system issues, then document findings in a comprehensive service report upon completion.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Customer Service & Satisfaction – Provide expert guidance to customers, addressing operational concerns, optimizing machine functionality, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. Develop strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused mindset to ensure high-quality service and positive interactions.

  • FANUC Robot & System Maintenance – Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain FANUC robots, controllers, electrical control systems, and peripheral equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability in automated operations.

  • Robot Diagnostics & Repair – Investigate, diagnose, document, and resolve operational and process issues in robotic systems as reported by customers or internal service hotlines, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  • Service Reporting – Prepare and submit comprehensive daily reports for each assignment, documenting diagnostics, repairs, system performance, maintenance activities, and recommendations. Ensure accurate reporting to both the customer and FANUC Headquarters to maintain transparency, optimize robot functionality, and support ongoing service improvements.

  • Comprehensive Training & Development – Participate in hands-on technical training and structured classroom instruction to build expertise in robotic systems, servo motors, and automation technology. Apply acquired knowledge to diagnose, maintain, and optimize robotic equipment, ensuring precision, efficiency, and reliability in industrial applications.

  • Inventory Control & Management – Accurately track, organize, and maintain assigned inventory, efficient usage, and compliance with company standards. Implement best practices to optimize inventory flow, reduce waste, and support operational efficiency.

  • Equipment & Tool Maintenance – Ensure proper care, calibration, and upkeep of all company-provided robotic equipment, tools, and diagnostic instruments.

  • High Regional Travel Demand – Requires 80%-90% travel within a designated region, either scheduled or on short notice. Overnight travel frequency depends on location and assignment needs.

Ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and education:

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • An Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field is preferred, but equivalent technical education or related work experience may also be considered.

  • Preferably at least three years of professional experience in robotics, automation, manufacturing, or a related technical field.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license and be capable of driving throughout the organization's service area as required for business operations.

  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Pneumatic Troubleshooting - Perform preventative maintenance to optimize robotic system reliability, reduce downtime, and extend equipment lifespan.

  • Read and apply electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting and system optimization.

  • Strong understanding of FANUC robots, controllers, and peripheral equipment, including troubleshooting, programming, and system integration preferred.

  • Experience with FANUC application software for programming, troubleshooting, and system optimization preferred.

  • Capable of safely lifting, transporting, and maneuvering up to 75 lbs, adhering to proper ergonomic techniques to prevent injury.

  • Capable of performing tasks in diverse industrial settings, including manufacturing, automation, and field operations.

  • Willing and able to travel within a designated region via auto or air for extended periods (at least 5 hours at a time). Adaptable to varying travel schedules, including air travel as needed, while maintaining efficiency and preparedness for on-site operations.

FANUC American is seeking a qualified applicant for an Associate Field Service Engineer. The compensation range for this position is $62,733 - $101,670 per year. Compensation is based on both salary and other compensation, including potential bonuses. Benefits include medical insurance, 401k savings, paid vacation, vision insurance, dental insurance, tuition reimbursements, disability insurance, life insurance, and paid holidays.
