Overview

The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for managing inventory and distribution of janitorial supplies, coordinating purchasing activities, and supporting field operations across active construction sites. This position ensures materials and equipment are available when needed by creating purchase orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, delivering supplies to field personnel, and coordinating equipment repairs through approved vendors. The ideal candidate is highly organized, safety-focused, and capable of working in dynamic construction environments while providing excellent customer service.

Pay: $27 - $30

The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities

  • Audit job sites and yards to ensure adherence to shipping, receiving, and inventory procedures

  • Work with purchasing to consider fiscally responsible options for shipping current stock or purchasing new inventory

  • Create routine travel schedule to assist in site inventories

  • Educate field team members on shipping, receiving, and inventory procedures

  • Reconcile actual stock count to computer-generated reports

  • Assign assets as needed

  • Coordinate asset reservations

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the asset tracking of loose items or lost inventory

  • Creates reports as necessary

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of janitorial supplies, consumables, and operational materials.

  • Monitor inventory usage and replenish stock to ensure uninterrupted support for field operations.

  • Create and process purchase orders (POs) in accordance with company procurement policies and approval procedures.

  • Coordinate with approved vendors to procure materials, supplies, and equipment required for daily operations.

  • Receive, inspect, organize, and distribute materials while maintaining accurate inventory records.

  • Transport materials, supplies, and equipment to construction sites and designated field locations in a safe and timely manner.

  • Coordinate the pickup and delivery of equipment requiring maintenance or repairs with company-approved vendors within the procurement system.

  • Track repair status and ensure repaired equipment is returned, inspected, and placed back into service promptly.

  • Maintain organized storage areas and ensure inventory is properly labeled, secured, and accounted for.

  • Perform routine inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy.

  • Support field personnel by responding promptly to material requests and operational needs.

  • Operate company vehicles safely while transporting materials and equipment throughout the project site.

  • Comply with all company safety policies, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and construction site regulations.

  • Maintain documentation related to inventory transactions, purchase orders, deliveries, equipment repairs, and vendor communications.

  • Perform additional warehouse, logistics, and inventory support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Bilingual: English & Spanish Communication

  • No high school diploma, GED or college degree required

  • 1-3 years of inventory experience

  • Experience creating and processing purchase orders using a procurement or ERP system.

  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and warehouse best practices.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and the ability to meet company driving requirements.

  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles on active construction sites.

  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and inventory management software.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
