Description

Reports to the Dean, Workforce Development, College & Career Pathways.

This is a part-time Instructor position, 26 hours a week.

Examples of Duties

  • Instructs and lectures on topics as assigned, and facilitates the associated skill labs

  • Prepares materials in advance for classroom and scenario lab instruction

  • Manages classroom activities, and attendance

  • Assists with the the recruitment and intake of participants

  • Collects, compiles and reports program and participants data, as required

  • Maintains participant data and oversees the maintenance of participant files

  • Represents the program at internal and external events

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

GWO Specific Duties:

  • Ensures all training equipment, facilities and resources are maintained to a high standard and in line with statutory requirements

  • Delivers training courses to the highest standards of quality following the pre-determined syllabus for the course allocated, taking account of the requirements of all applicable training standards, legislation, and Atlantic Cape QMS

  • Supervises students throughout theoretical and practical training sessions, ensuring all exercises are conducted in a competent, safe, and professional manner

Typical Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma/HSE required. Associate's Degree preferred.

  • American Heart Association's Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months

  • OSHA 30 Training (for construction)

  • GWO Basic Safety Training or ability to become GWO certified

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of related industry sector experience

  • Experience teaching or training adults

Safety Requirement:

  • Instructors who will teach Working at Heights are required to have a body weight of under 265 lbs

Competencies and Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of industry standards and legislation

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

  • Proven computer literacy with proficiency in utilizing and applying Microsoft Office, as well as specialized software programs and computer applications, and ability to work with databases

Supplemental Information

This position requires scheduling that includes evenings and weekends, and duties at any Atlantic Cape campus and other locations related to delivering the program objectives

Tuition Waiver - adjuncts may enroll for one credit course, tuition-free, during any semester they are teaching.

Paid sick leave in accordance with the NJ Paid Sick Leave Law

ABP (Alternate Benefit Program (https://www.state.nj.us/treasury/pensions/pension-active-abp.shtml) is a defined contribution retirement program for adjuncts. Adjuncts contribute 5% of base salary and the college contributes 8% of base salary. There are seven State-authorized ABP investment carriers. Life insurance benefits through ABP are payable to the beneficiary at 3.5X the member's salary.
