Make a meaningful impact in your community at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH), where your organizational skills and patient-centered approach support seamless care delivery in our outpatient Pulmonology Clinic.

About This Role

As a Medical Office Secretary at NVRH within the Pulmonology Clinic, you will play a vital role in supporting daily operations and ensuring a positive patient experience. Working under the direction of the Practice Operations Director, you will manage a variety of administrative and clerical responsibilities while serving as a key point of contact between patients, providers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line customer service by answering calls, routing messages, and coordinating communication between patients and the care team

  • Register and check out patients, ensuring accurate entry of demographics, insurance, and patient information while collecting co-pays and balances

  • Support clinical operations by processing referrals, prior authorizations, medical records requests, and diagnostic orders

  • Manage provider schedules, including appointment booking, rescheduling, cancellations, and follow-up on no-shows while supporting team-based care

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Prior customer service experience required; medical office experience preferred

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in computer systems and electronic health records

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure

  • Familiarity with medical terminology

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
