Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher
Position Title: Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher
Location: Onsite
Job Type: Full-Time/Contract
Schedule: School Calendar Hours
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs in a school-based setting. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students reach their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals through individualized instruction, collaboration, and evidence-based teaching practices.
This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized instruction and support services while working closely with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations.

Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families.

Assess student performance and utilize data to drive instructional decisions.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.
-
Adapt curriculum, instructional methods, and materials to meet individual student needs.

Support inclusion practices and assist students in accessing the general education curriculum when appropriate.

Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other required school meetings.

Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success and independence.
Required Qualifications

Active North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Adapted Curriculum K-12 License OR Exceptional Children (EC) General Curriculum K-12 License .

Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Exceptional Children, Education, or a related field.

Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance requirements.

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous experience teaching students with disabilities in a school setting.

Experience with differentiated instruction and behavior intervention strategies.

Familiarity with North Carolina EC policies and procedures.

Experience supporting students across a variety of disability categories and educational settings.
