Salary: $37,000.00 Annually

CUSTODIAN/PORTER

We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Custodian/Porter to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Custodian/Porter for our Families w/ Children facility in the Williamsbridge area of the Bronx. As the Custodian/Porter, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, ensuring a clean, well-maintained, and safe environment for our families in the facility. ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS:

Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.

  • Vacuum, sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops or powered machines.

  • Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.

  • Dust and disinfect furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.

  • Perform garbage-related tasks.

  • Complete unit turnover tasks.

  • Perform light painting as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in custodial work.

  • Familiar with the proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift, up to 60 pounds.

  • Be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
