1st Shift Commercial HVAC Tech Job Description - 120k Salary - Direct Placement

This role maintains and supports the reliable operation of HVAC systems across a large multi-building facility. You will perform a balanced mix of preventative and reactive maintenance on a variety of equipment, including rooftop units, boilers, chillers, freezers, and building automation systems, ensuring comfortable and safe conditions for all occupants.

Responsibilities

  • Keep all HVAC systems for the facility operating efficiently and reliably across multiple buildings.

  • Perform a mix of preventative and reactive maintenance (approximately 50/50) on rooftop units, boilers, chillers, freezers, and building automation systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair building automation systems and components, including sensors, actuators, and user interfaces.

  • Read and interpret blueprints to diagnose issues and guide repairs on commercial HVAC systems.

  • Respond promptly to open work orders and generated tickets for reactive maintenance needs.

  • Identify required replacement parts and order parts as needed to complete repairs in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, groundskeepers, and HVAC technicians to support overall facility maintenance.

  • Document work performed on HVAC systems and building automation systems to maintain accurate maintenance records.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience working as an HVAC Technician in a commercial or industrial setting.

  • At least 5 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.

  • At least 5 years of experience performing repairs on commercial rooftop HVAC units.

  • At least 5 years of experience performing preventative and reactive maintenance on chillers.

  • At least 5 years of experience performing preventative and reactive maintenance on boilers.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and freezers.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair building automation systems and related components such as sensors, actuators, and user interfaces.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control issues within HVAC systems.

  • Ability to manage work orders and prioritize reactive maintenance needs in a busy facilities environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of plumbing experience is a plus.

  • At least 1 year of experience with building automation systems is a plus.

  • EPA 608 Certification is a plus.

  • Experience working in commercial or institutional facilities with multiple buildings is beneficial.

  • Comfort working collaboratively within a maintenance team that includes technicians, groundskeepers, and other HVAC professionals.

Work Environment

You will work as part of a maintenance team of approximately 20 professionals, including maintenance technicians, groundskeepers, and HVAC technicians, with four dedicated HVAC technicians. The facility includes around 75 buildings, such as offices, large classrooms, and dormitories. Most buildings are between 15 and 25 years old and are maintained to a high standard, with minimal deferred maintenance. The environment is a well-kept campus-style setting where you will move between buildings to perform HVAC and building automation system work.
