Full job description

The Office of Admissions is seeking an Assistant Director to provide support and leadership to a multigenerational, diverse team of admissions professionals. This position reports directly to the Director of Admissions and actively participates in admissions functions, ensuring a collaborative environment. The admissions office processes thousands of applications each semester and assists students as they begin their educational journeys at Trident Technical College. As the first point of contact for many prospective students, the admissions office has a unique opportunity to make a strong first impression and ensure the college welcomes all with open arms. The Office of Admissions is proud to support the college’s mission: educate the individual, accelerate the economy and inspire the future.

This position’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervising and supporting the daily operations/functions within the Office of Admissions.
  • Designated School Officer (DSO) in all facets to accept and enroll International Students into various programs of study.
  • Advising students/key institutional members on rules and regulations about DHS, USCIS, and TTC.
  • Serving non-US citizens and permanent residents on documents necessary for admission into the college. Must have appropriate knowledge of immigration reform – such as DACA.
  • Collecting and analyzing data that will drive and inform decisions; shape the flow/processes for students and staff; and improve department/institution functionality.
  • Representing the Admissions as the campus partners liaison manager to ensure staff connected to these admission functions are working closely with personnel on procedural updates for new and current team members.
  • Developing and maintaining training materials for the staff and campus partners.
  • Additional duties as assigned. This position requires a bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs. Preferred candidate will have a master's degree in a related area and one (1) year of experience in student service programs.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and abilities.

Knowledge of the philosophy of technical education to include open-door institutions. College, state, and federal regulations regarding the College's admission policies and procedures for international and domestic students. The ability to supervise, train, and evaluate personnel. Establish effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the general public. Excellent customer service, written and oral communications, and organizational and time management skills. Experience w/Ellucian Colleague and Recruit preferred. Possesses the ability to hit the ground running and maintain pace. Fluency in conversational Spanish is a plus.
