Description

CNAs at Mill Street Residence provide assistance to our tenants in their activities of daily living and personal care with a friendly, positive attitude. Excellent communication skills and a caring demeanor are essential for this position!

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists and/or provides residents with personal care, as directed, including bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, washing and drying hair, nail care, and toileting.

  • Assists residents with exercises or ambulation as directed by therapist or nurse.

  • Reminds/assists resident to take medications as directed by RN

  • Completes and records vital signs, weight as assigned.

  • Assists/performs transfers of resident from commode, bed or chair using proper lifting and transfer technique and/or equipment. Use proper body mechanics at all times.

  • Has basic knowledge of infection control procedures.

  • Changes bed linen as needed.

  • Changes simple dressings after instruction/demonstration of technique.

  • Reinforces personal care techniques to promote independence.

  • Recognizes significant changes in resident condition and reports findings in a timely manner to the RN as appropriate.

  • Documents all care provided to residents, including observations, treatments, instructions, and communications.

Hours/Shifts

Full time or part time hours available for straight night shift work, 11pm-7:30am. Please indicate your FTE preference in your application.

Compensation

Hourly Wage Range: $18.83 - $25.96 with a $1.90 shift differential when working straight night shifts. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

Qualifications

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.

  • Education / Licensing: High School diploma or GED preferred. Minnesota Certified Nursing Assistant certification, 75-hour course, and/or successful completion of competency evaluation is required.

  • Work Experience/Knowledge: A minimum of one-year experience as a CNA in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or home care agency preferred.

  • Abilities: Should possess good intervention techniques, effective communication skills, problem solving and decision-making capabilities, and the ability to solicit cooperation. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform simple personal care services for the resident under the supervision of the RN. Ability to make meaningful observations and write simple reports. Ability to accept and constructively use supervision. Ability to communicate effectively in dealing with residents, families, and co-workers. Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards the elderly is essential.
