  • Job Summary :

  • The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures and maintaining accurate operating room schedules to support efficient perioperative operations. The Scheduler serves as a liaison among physician offices, hospital departments, vendors, and Surgical Services staff to facilitate scheduling accuracy, resource coordination, and effective communication. Responsibilities include surgical scheduling, maintenance of surgeon block schedules, vendor coordination, routine data tracking and reporting, office supply management, and other administrative activities that support departmental operations.

  • Education :

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Medical Terminology knowledge

  • Registration/Certification/Licensure :

  • None

  • Experience :

  • Position requires 1 to 2 years of related experience .

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures, surgical procedures, healthcare billing, and authorization is preferred.

  • Knowledge of CPT odes and ICD 10 preferred.

  • Other Requirements :

  • Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.

  • Basic computer skills to include Windows, Microsoft Office, Operating System.

  • Basic knowledge of insurance plans, coverage types and medical terminology.

  • Excellent phone rapport

  • Demonstrates flexibility and cooperative attitude.

  • Complete all quality assurance errors identified within appropriate time.

  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff and departments.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.

  • Highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization ad organization.

  • Knowledge of HIPPA and confidentiality.
