What You'll Do
As a UPMC Paramedic, you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality emergency care in dynamic, fast-paced environments. Key responsibilities include:

Providing basic and advanced life support in pre-hospital and emergency settings

Communicating effectively with Medical Command and interdisciplinary care teams

Performing emergency assessments, diagnostics, and treatments

Supporting the education and development of student paramedics

Participating in community education and outreach initiatives

Ensuring readiness through proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles

Accurately documenting patient care while maintaining confidentiality

Promoting safety, wellness, and professionalism for patients and colleagues

This position requires operating a company fleet vehicle. As part of the hiring process, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be conducted. ✅ Qualifications
Education & Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
At least 1 year of experience in EMS (Advanced Life Support level) is preferred
-
Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds
-
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
-
Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different base sites as needed
-
Must be eligible for Medical Command authorization from the Medical Director
-
Completion of UPMC's orientation program, including classroom training
-
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment
️ Licenses & Certifications (Required):
-
Certified Paramedic in Pennsylvania
-
Valid Driver's License
-
Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD)

EMSVO Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification
Clearances (Required with Renewal):

Act 31 - Child Abuse Reporting

Act 33 - PA Child Abuse History Clearance
-
Act 34 - PA Criminal Background Check
-
Act 73 - FBI Fingerprint Clearance
