Description

20+ hours a week of small group and private swim lessons are available.

Instruct individuals of all ages in swimming skills according to swimEGR standards to ensure the participants success.

Essential Job Functions

  • Instruct individuals of all ages in skills according to swimEGR standards

  • Directly responsible to the Aquatic Supervisor

Functions performed in fulfilling responsibilities:

  • Prevent accidents and minimize/eliminate hazardous situations in pool areas.

  • Respond quickly to all emergency situations using proper procedures/techniques.

  • Enforce all pool regulations set by the EGR Parks and Recreation Department.

  • Administer emergency First Aid and/or CPR if certified to any person injured in the pool area and assist Lifeguard(s) in the completion of reports, (certified lifeguards only).

  • Work all scheduled shifts or secure own substitute.

  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings, in-services and workshops.

  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.

  • Maintain positive relations and rapport with pool patrons.

  • Complete all necessary paperwork.

  • Any other duties assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor.

Supplemental information

  • Minimum of 1-year experience as an instructor.

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others (especially children).

  • Preferred certifications include ARC Lifeguarding, First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED.

  • Ability to perform well in emergency situations.
