Job Title: Inverter Testing Technologist

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Inverter Testing Technologist to support the development and testing of current and next-generation electrified vehicle traction inverters. This is a hands-on laboratory role focused on building, configuring, operating, and maintaining complex electromechanical test systems while supporting daily laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build custom structural test stands from engineering drawings and schematics.

  • Construct complex electromechanical test setups.

  • Inspect inverter components including capacitors, power modules, and busbars.

  • Assemble prototype test samples.

  • Install diagnostic sensors on prototype assemblies.

  • Build low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) wiring harnesses.

  • Configure and operate laboratory equipment including high-voltage testers, thermal chambers, and power cyclers.

  • Troubleshoot experimental test setups.

  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.

  • Execute safe and systematic teardown of test setups.

  • Support laboratory operations through inventory management.

  • Assist with shipping and receiving activities.

  • Support equipment calibration activities.

  • Maintain a safe, organized laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 3+ years of experience in an R&D, validation, or test laboratory building, maintaining, and tearing down complex electromechanical test setups.

  • 2+ years of experience with low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) wiring harness fabrication, assembly, and inspection.

  • Experience with manual machining, custom prototyping, and fabrication of test fixtures, mounts, or structural framing using CAD models, engineering drawings, or hand sketches.

  • Experience reading, interpreting, and troubleshooting electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.

  • Working knowledge of high-voltage systems (208VAC–480VAC and 50VDC–1000VDC).

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, including Energy Control/Power Lock-out (ECPL) or Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent practical experience in a mechanical, electrical, automotive, or related technical field.

  • Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.

  • Experience reading GD&T guidelines and using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.

  • Experience with through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) PCB soldering.
