You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (EMPLOYEE BENEFITS) in the Civilian Benefits Center of OFFICE OF CIVILIAN HUMAN RESOURCES OPERATIONS. Before applying, you're encouraged to learn more about federal human resources careers by visiting the HR Career Compass at: www.OPM.gov/HRCareerCompass Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in supporting federal retirement and/or benefits programs, such as verifying documentation to support retirement eligibility determinations; utilizing an automated data system to assist with processing related personnel actions; researching federal laws and regulations to respond to customer inquiries. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will be providing retirements/benefits counseling to assigned customers in the Civilian Employee Benefits areas. You will make recommendations to supervisor, ensure recommended solutions are in accordance with latest guidance and federal regulations. You will mentor and train junior staff. You will conduct formal benefits and retirement sustainment training for staff as well as Staffing teams. You will prepare and conduct briefings regarding retirement and benefits for serviced employees. You will serve as troubleshooter for retirement and benefits issues. Security clearance required: Secret

Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-07: Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education or Superior academic achievement or Have a combination of education and experience that equates to 100% of the requirement.
