Mechanical Reliability Engineer

Description -

This role is responsible for leading overall mechanical and reliability programs for the Personal Systems Quality team. Provides advanced failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective actions for reliability issues across various product stages. Provides mechanical product analysis during the NPI phase using DFX principles. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams and actively promotes reliability activities.

*Onsite in Spring office is required 4-days a week

Responsibilities:

  • Provides advanced failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective actions for reliability concerns and/or issues during development, manufacturing and field operations.

  • Analyzes field quality data to identify areas for prevention of failure and improved detection of product issues.

  • Develops new acceleration techniques and analytical tools to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging, processes, and product reliability.

  • Proactively addresses customer requests or issues related to reliability, ensuring timely resolution while liaising with the relevant stakeholders.

  • Provides consultation to product development architecture teams for material component selection, and associated reliability test plans.

  • Provides analysis during NPI Phase through RFQ proposal reviews, CAD reviews, and DFX tear downs.

  • Provides NUD mitigation and test plans and develops Issue Prevention.

  • Actively mentors less-experienced engineers in the field of reliability and contributes to their growth in the organization.

Education & Experience Recommended:

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in reliability modeling and analysis, root cause analysis, or a related field.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Mechanical Design/3D Modeling capabilities

  • Thorough hands-on and theoretical experience in Reliability Lab environment

  • Experience in failure analysis techniques: microscopy, X ray, cross-sectioning- thermal imaging, etc.

  • Root cause analysis processes: 8D, Fishbone, etc.

  • Risk assessments using FMEA

  • Proficiency in DOE for reliability optimization

  • Ability to drive Design for Manufacturing/Quality/Reliability initiatives during product development

The pay range for this role is $105,050 to $161,800 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
