CNC Machinist Responsibilities

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC machining processes while producing high-quality precision components to exact specifications.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or Swiss machining centers

  • Perform tooling changes, offset adjustments, and machine troubleshooting

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions

  • Make minor program edits and adjustments at the machine

  • Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections

  • Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and gauges

  • Machine aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and specialty materials to tight tolerances

  • Run both short-run and high-volume production jobs

  • Complete production and quality documentation using electronic systems and tablets

  • Maintain quality, safety, and productivity standards

  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality teams to ensure successful production

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 1 year of CNC machining experience

  • Experience operating CNC mills, lathes, and/or Swiss machines

  • Ability to perform setups, tool changes, and offset adjustments

  • Experience using precision measuring instruments

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

  • Reliable attendance and commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred

  • Experience with Haas CNC machines

  • Multi-axis machining experience

  • Swiss machining experience

  • Experience in medical device, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments

  • Knowledge of tight-tolerance machining and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
