QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid New York State teaching certificate in Art
ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:

Evidence of superior knowledge of content and performance-based standards and the ability to effectively implement them in a middle and high school setting.

Ability to motivate and instruct students in developing problem solving skills.

Demonstrate successful classroom experience at the middle and high school level.

Ability to motivate and inspire students at a variety of ability levels and to contribute toward the growth of an exemplary art program.

Demonstrate effective classroom management skills, including the ability to motivate students of varying skill levels and effectively maintain classroom expectations.

Demonstrate a high level of artistic ability, skill, and understanding of artistic concepts.

Evidence of incorporating differentiated instruction in planning a lesson/unit of instruction to meet the needs of all students.

Demonstrate evidence of a desire to create a classroom that is flexible and student centered.

Be active in professional organizations, e.g. NYSATA and NAEA, and continued professional development.

Demonstrated knowledge of art literature, curriculum, and technology application appropriate to the middle and high school level.

Demonstrated evidence of effective communication skills, both written and oral.

Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff members, colleagues, administration, parents, and community groups.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- Demonstrated evidence of a willingness to contribute within and outside the department if called upon (i.e. advisor, chaperone, club, etc.)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY: $47,200 - $53,700 Per WTA Contract

Internal: District employees ( Probationary and tenured teachers requesting a transfer within their current tenure area, Teaching Assistants who are currently fully certified in the appropriate tenure area ) may apply by submitting a letter of interest to Human Resources with a copy to the building principal. The original signed letters of interest must be submitted by the end of the day on August 24, 2026.
