Successful candidates bring Grade 12 Education Or Equivalent and US Citizen Or National Or Lawfully Admitted For Permanent Residence Or Authorized To Work. Important skills include Electrical Background, Mechanical Assessments, Electrical Assessments, Inspecting Mechanical Components, Troubleshooting Mechanical Components, and Repairing Mechanical Components. Preferred (not required): Knowledge Of Electrical Schematics, Knowledge Of Building Schematics, and Keyboard Skills.

Job Description:

UPS is currently hiring a Buildings and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanic/Electrician. This position is responsible for maintenance activities performed to keep a UPS package handling facility operating efficiently and effectively. The work is fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other hub employees. Ideal candidates must be available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, in a 24 x 7 operation . The candidate is required to have a strong electrical background and must successfully complete both electrical and mechanical assessments as part of the hiring process.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Work Location: 1 Hog Island Road, Philadelphia, PA 19153, United States of America

Shift Details: Monday to Friday, 7:00 PM to 3:30 AM

Pay rate:

  • Starting Pay: $40.33/Hr.

  • After 1 Year: $47.45/Hr.

  • Pension plan is included on top of pay

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting troubleshooting repairing and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates

  • Troubleshooting adjusting and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers and PLC

  • Inspecting troubleshooting repairing and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as puck sorters, flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils

  • Inspecting troubleshooting repairing and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps

  • Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating

  • Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent

  • Ability to receive and give instruction over radio in an industrial environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Experience of performing maintenance on conveyor belts is an asset

  • Knowledge of electrical and building schematics is an asset

  • Knowledge of keyboard and basic computer skills is an asset
