City/State Virginia Beach, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: Sentara Health Plans is hiring an Onsite Part- Time Prevention Nurse Specialist!

Must be able to work 16 hours per week. M-F and occasional weekends. This is not a work from home role and requires onsite participation across the Hampton Roads region.

Primary responsibilities include: We are seeking an engaging and mission driven health professional to deliver high-quality community and workplace wellness initiatives. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of health screenings and immunization events designed to empower individuals to take charge of their well-being. You will conduct one-on-one preventive screenings, including blood pressure assessments and fingerstick biometric testing, while using motivational interviewing and patient centered communication to help participants understand their results and take meaningful steps toward reducing cardiovascular and lifestyle related risks.

As a trusted health partner, you’ll provide personalized guidance on key wellness topics such as tobacco cessation, adult immunizations, heart health, cancer prevention and early detection, and effective self-care practices. You will also administer seasonal influenza vaccinations in alignment with clinical standards and safety protocols. Education:

  • Associate's degree in nursing (required)

  • Bachelor BSN (preferred)

Certification:

  • Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia (required)

  • BLS Certification (required)

  • Driver’s License: Unrestricted/active, required for regional travel

Experience:

  • 5 years of RN experience (required)

  • Accute Care or Community Health Environment (preferred)

  • Active, unrestricted driver’s license required for regional travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in community nursing

  • Experience in health prevention and/or health education

  • Experience providing care to patients with diabetes or cardiac risk factors

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $44.99 - $66.85 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
