Full job description
Evening shifts - 8 or 10 hours
JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies, equipment and endoscopes by the department following established infection control practices. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments with the hospital. Able to accept new ideas and learn position duties.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department. Knowledgeable with cleaning and sterilization procedures and technique. Basic understanding of various functions of the department. Conscientious regards for technical and minute procedures. Basic computer knowledge. Moderate stress.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Certification preferred or eligible within 18 months of hire.
Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations.
