JOB DESCRIPTION
(Depew UFSD/Civil Service)
POSITION: School Monitor (10-Month Position)
CURRENT LOCATION: High school
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Assists in supervision and maintains order in corridors, recreation areas, cafeteria, parking lots, and other school facilities and grounds before, during, and after school hours.

Monitors buildings and grounds to prevent vandalism, theft, and illegal entry.

Greets visitors and screens individuals for entry using the District's Visitor Management System at the building's main entrance.

Guides students in safe practices inside and outside the school building.

Reports any unusual or suspicious circumstances to the building administration.

Monitors school grounds to detect unauthorized persons, vehicles, or gatherings.

Addresses unauthorized persons for questioning, directs or detains them as appropriate, and contacts building administration for assistance when necessary.

Assists with record-keeping as necessary, including logging incidents and performing periodic clerical duties.

Assists students with special needs.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the school administration.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to establish and maintain appropriate relationships with students, maintain order, and enforce school regulations.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, staff, and the public.

Computer literate, with the ability to learn and use district software systems, including visitor management software.

Good powers of observation; dependability; neat personal appearance; tact; courtesy; and sound judgment.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
-
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; OR
-
Four (4) years of experience in the care and supervision of children; OR
-
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (1) and (2).
