Full job description

The Asia Pacific Division has an opening for a Consultant Engineer to be based in the Singapore office.

This position will report to Barry Sun, Group Manager – Field Engineering.

We are currently seeking for a degree qualified engineer who is interested in developing a career in loss prevention engineering, with a focus in power generation.

Responsibilities:

If you enjoy variety, we will put your time-management and organization skills to use handling field visits, office work, and projects for large commercial and industrial clients. We will provide you with extensive training to understand our business, establish relationships with mentors, and learn FM's best-in-class industry standards. In this role, you will work independently with a lifeline of 200 years of support and experience.

Initially, your assignments are structured for you to learn. You will gradually begin assessing risks at larger commercial and industrial properties. You will visit client facilities and perform evaluations that will help our clients reduce risks in their business and at their properties.

You will perform “hands-on” site assessments of physical properties including roofs and conduct evaluations which include, but are not limited to, site water supplies, dust hazards, chemical storage, and rack storage arrangements of client products.

Consultant Engineers follow FM Engineering Standards and communicate recommendations and/or engineering solutions to ensure client understanding. Strong communication, listening and relationship building skills are a must.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.

  • Demonstrated 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in the power generation sector, ideally supporting the installation, operation, maintenance or servicing of gas and steam turbines within an OEM or plant environment.

  • Direct involvement in engineering projects would be an advantage.

  • Onsite problem solving and troubleshooting experience is desired

  • Work related travel experience and willingness to travel is a must

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Efficient time management skills and ability to work independently.

  • Proven technical capability including diverse knowledge of engineering principles.

  • Proficient in MS Office products.
