This vacancy is for a GS - 0101 - 12, Family Advocacy Specialist (Clinical) one vacancy located in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts and one vacancy located in Staten Island, New York. Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: Applicants must have a successful completion of a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Applicants must possess a combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND In addition to the positive education and/or experience requirements above, applicants must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service. To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Providing clinical mental health services for clients experiencing mental health disorders, domestic violence, family maltreatment, or related behavioral health concerns. Conducting risk assessments, developing and coordinating safety measures, providing case management, referrals, and follow-up services and monitoring treatment plans to ensure appropriate interventions and client safety. Providing consultation, technical assistance, and training regarding family advocacy, domestic violence, maltreatment, or behavioral health cases. Developing individualized treatment plans to reduce the risk of recurring maltreatment and improve treatment outcomes. Maintaining clinical case records to evaluate program effectiveness to ensure accountability, and support compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements. You will serve as a Family Advocacy Specialist (Clinical) and be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Congressional mandate that the military services take action to prevent and reduce family maltreatment. .. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Provides comprehensive clinical mental health services to Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and Family in Needs of Services (FINS) clients. Performs comprehensive case management and risk assessment. Provides Family Advocacy Program training, consultation, and technical assistance. Engages clients in a cooperative treatment process designed to prevent recurring incidents of maltreatment. Maintains accurate FAP case records and statistical data. Develop, prepare and present cases to the Incident Determination Committee (IDC). Establishing and nurturing relationships with community partners that support and respond to incidents of intimate partner violence and child abuse. Collaborate with internal Workforce and Family staff and service lines.
