Description
Job Purpose The purpose of the Nursing Supervisor position is to coordinate the activities of the patient care units in a centralized nursing environment. The Nursing Supervisor assists the Nurse Managers in departmental staffing on a daily basis, maintains approved standards of patient care within the Division of Nursing, taking into account the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs, investigates and resolves complaints, and maintains a safe environment for staff and patients. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for operating the entire hospital in the absence of Department Heads and Administration, with the support of the designated “Administrator-on-call.”
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an associate’s degree or diploma required. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group served.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science Nursing degree.
License/Certification/Registration: Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications within the first 6 months of hire or transfer.
Experience: Five(5)years of medical/surgical experience or equivalent.
Preferred: Two(2)years of nursing management experience.
Knowledge: Possess a working knowledge of the NYS Department of Health Code, Rules and Regulations, accreditation requirements, administrative policies, nursing structure standards, procedures and protocols, union contracts, child abuse reporting requirements, OSHA, infection control, safety, body mechanics, scope of practice, documentation computers and communication systems. Possess knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit. Possess knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
Hours will fluctuate depending on departmental needs
Full-Time Sign-on-Bonus: $20,000
