Job Description:

**PRN - Night and Day Shifts Available

  • Provides respiratory services in accordance with specific provider’s orders, department policies, and procedures.

  • Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding the purpose and possible side effects of each.

  • Performs arterial punctures to obtain and analyze arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis, understanding possible complications and contraindications.

  • Manages and operates respiratory therapy equipment safely and correctly, inspecting and testing to ensure functionality.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and necessary equipment, remaining alert to possible side effects.

  • Documents all pertinent data on the patient's electronic medical record following completion of any service.

  • Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met and hospital policy is followed.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages.

  • Formulates and evaluates teaching plans based on identified learning needs of patients, including family involvement as appropriate.

  • Attends education in-service programs to maintain professional competency and obtains appropriate hospital-specific education and training.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. [Required]

  • Additional languages [Preferred]

Education:

  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Field of Study:

  • Completed the first year and is currently enrolled in a two-year approved Respiratory Therapy Program. Required

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

  • Neonatal Resuscitation (NPR) [Preferred]

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Preferred]

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Preferred]
