Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer role will support essential Digital and Systems Engineering processes, systems architecture, and lifecycle management activities across the T-6A Avionics Replacement Program (ARP). This position will support the Lead Systems Engineer with digital and systems engineering activities in support of the primary flight and secondary avionics architecture upgrades for a fleet of 440 T-6A Texan II aircraft. As the U.S. Air Force s primary flight trainer, the T-6A is critical to developing basic flying skills for Joint Primary Pilot Training students across the Air Force and Navy. This position provides a high-visibility and rewarding opportunity to support the modernization of the Air Force s primary trainer aircraft fleet.

This role will leverage Systems Modeling Language (SysML) to develop, refine, and integrate architecture artifacts within a comprehensive Digital System Model (DSM). To ensure modeling quality and consistency, the role is responsible for designing, implementing and enforcing a SysML style guide that promotes rigorous traceability across all activities. Additionally, the position will support requirements development and analysis, overseeing the delivery of Technical Data Packages and system engineering artifacts to manage integration throughout the system lifecycle and foster full alignment with program and customer objectives. The role requires frequent interaction with the Prime Contractor, Government customers, and multiple internal functional areas. Successful candidates can balance complex technical objectives with programmatic and business considerations, ensuring alignment with overall mission and contractual goals.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Candidates must possess experience in digital engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and demonstrate proven leadership in developing SysML models that encompass both complex hardware and software systems. This experience should reflect an understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements development, functional and physical architecture definition, interface management, verification, and validation.

  • Bachelor s degree in engineering or a related discipline in systems engineering with 3 years of direct experience.

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, functional and physical system architecture design, and interface definition.

  • Experience with digital engineering and architectural leadership of SysML-based modelling efforts.

  • Hands-on experience with Cameo Systems Modeler and MagicDraw.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional engineering teams in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience with aircraft or avionics systems.

  • Familiarity with the Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process

  • Certification in systems engineering, such as CSEP or OCSMP-MBF

  • Possession of an OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) certification is highly desirable.

  • Additionally, prior experience supporting aircraft or aerospace system development is strongly preferred.
