Full job description

Our Mission Reflection is a research lab making intelligence open and accessible for everyone to use, customize, and build on. We build open models that let anyone control their intelligence and help shape the future of AI. Our mission: make intelligence open and accessible to all.

Role Overview As a key member of Reflection's policy and communications team, you will lead in shaping the public narrative around open-source AI at a pivotal moment for the industry. You will work cross-functionally to strategize and spearhead campaigns tailored for specific agenda items and audiences. You’ll crisply articulate the complex, fast-moving landscape of AI regulation, public and product policy to media, policy audiences, industry voices and other thought leaders.

We’re looking for someone who can move quickly and identifies a strategic do-er. To be successful, you must be a low-ego collaborator who’s willing to take risks and build new approaches to the communications playbook.

What You'll Do

  • Shape the industry news and policy debates that most directly affect Reflection through proactive campaigns and rapid-response communications.

  • Build relationships with policy press, Hill staff, and third-party stakeholders to advance Reflection's reputation and priorities.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams across research, legal, international relations and policy to manage press coverage, briefings, events, and more.

  • Draft and edit blog posts, FAQs, talking points, and video scripts that make Reflection's mission and technical work accessible to non-technical audiences.

  • Monitor and help coordinate communications responses to fast-moving regulatory and geopolitical developments that touch Reflection and AI policy.

  • Represent Reflection AI at D.C. and global policy events

  • Manage relationships with external consultants and public affairs firms

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic communication, reputation management or public affairs.

  • Experience driving policy-focused media campaigns and supporting policy, regulatory, or reputational issues, ideally in technology.

  • Established relationships with technology, national security, and policy press, and fluency in the current media and social landscape.

  • Experience working alongside government affairs, legal, or technical teams on sensitive or fast-moving issues.

  • Sharp written and verbal communicator who can distill a complex AI policy issue into a two-minute pitch or a crisp one-pager

  • Exceptional judgement and comfortability working in a fast-moving, startup environment where you're building the playbook, not inheriting one

  • Live our culture and values: mission above ego, trust built through truth, extreme ownership and the belief that collaboration is how we succeed.

What We Offer: We believe that to make intelligence open and accessible to all, you need to start at the foundation. Joining Reflection means building from the ground up as part of a talent-dense team. You will help define our future as a company, and help define the future of open foundational models.

We want you to do the most impactful work of your career with the confidence that you and the people you care about most are supported.

  • Top-tier compensation: Salary and equity structured to recognize and retain our talent globally.

  • Stock options: Everyone who joins and contributes to Reflection's success gets to share in the upside through stock options.

  • Health & wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life, with an annual wellness allowance.

  • Meals: Lunch and dinner are provided in the office daily.

  • Life & family: 22 weeks paid parental leave for all new birthing and non-birthing parents, including adoptive and surrogate journeys.

  • Vacation days: Unlimited paid time off in the U.S. and 30 days in the U.K.

  • Sponsorship support: We sponsor visas to help exceptional talent join our team and support long-term immigration pathways where applicable.

  • Team building: We have regular off-sites, happy hours, and team celebrations.

Export Control Notice: This position may require access to technology or source code subject to the U.S. Export Administration Regulations. Any offer of employment for this role may be conditioned on the Company's ability to provide the candidate with access to such technology or source code in compliance with applicable U.S. export control laws, which may require the Company to seek government authorization.
