KLDiscovery, a leading global provider of electronic discovery, information governance and data recovery services, is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer, for an exciting new opportunity. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain our internal billing workflow platform's VB.NET WinForms desktop application – a critical service in our monthly billing workflow system processing all our monthly client billings before getting invoiced. This is the primary day-to-day responsibility.
- Work directly with SQL Server: write and optimize T-SQL, stored procedures, and SQL Server Agent jobs
- Lead the development of new features, system enhancements, and performance optimization initiatives as part of the platform's ongoing in-place modernization effort
- Contribute to planning and execution of the platform's future migration to a modern web-based architecture, helping evaluate target architecture (e.g., ASP.NET Core/Blazor) and migration strategy alongside BI leadership.
- Write and maintain automated tests; grow test coverage from its current thin baseline.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor other developers, and drive adherence to the team's established coding standards, style guide, and code-audit protocol
- Collaborate with BI, Analyst, Processing, and Submission team stakeholders to translate billing workflow requirements into robust technical solutions
- Contribute to technical design decisions for both the current system and its future state
- Leverage Claude Code and other AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
Qualifications
- Fluent English communication skills (C1 level or equivalent).
- 7+ years of hands-on software development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with VB.NET & .NET Framework , C#, ASP.NET, Core Blazor and Entity Framework Core
- Strong, hands-on T-SQL and SQL Server experience — database design, query optimization, stored procedures, and SQL Server Agent job scheduling
- Experience developing and maintaining WinForms desktop applications , including MDI (multi-document interface) architecture
- Familiarity with Angular a plus
- Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit/functional/regression) in a .NET environment.
- Experience with Azure DevOps (Boards, Pipelines), GitHub and code-quality gating tools (e.g., SonarQube) is a plus
- Proven ability to design, estimate, and deliver complex software solutions from business requirements
- Understanding of financial systems, financial processes, and billing/invoicing terminology is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and contribute to architectural decisions
- Experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools is preferred
