This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.

Job Description

The Part-time Building Brains Educational Teacher position will be responsible for preparing, facilitating, and delivering educational enrichment opportunities, such as field trips, summer camps, and public programs for participants and the general public, presented in both indoor and outdoor locations. This position will be interacting with children, caregivers, the general public, and staff professionally and positively. The educator must be willing to work in a multitude of settings, all while ensuring a safe and engaging learning experience for all participants. The position is based largely at the Environmental & Heritage Center but also at historic sites and other locations across Gwinnett County.

Essential Duties

Orienting, monitoring, and leading children in science, social studies, and STEAM enrichment activities Demonstrating a command of the subjects being taught Sustaining positive audience engagement (youth, adults, and seniors) Presenting a specifically designed curriculum aligned with academic standards for K-12 Ensuring smooth transitions and the safety of participants from one activity to another Participating in professional growth and professional learning opportunities Communicating all issues and concerns with the supervisor Performing other duties of a similar nature or level

Public Speaking

Leading educational programs for up to 30 people of various age groups (youth, adults, and seniors) Attending outreach events to promote upcoming programs and educating the public about the mission of Building Brains Anywhere Delivering ad hoc tours and answering questions from the general public

Other Job Requirements/Information

This job requires fingerprinting. The candidates must undergo a comprehensive background check and obtain a satisfactory determination from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL). This position will require a 50-pound lift test. This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after-hours, weekends, and/or holidays. This position requires continuous interaction with the public and co-workers.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate is $16.80. Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in science, history, environmental studies, education, or childcare One year of experience working in an elementary, middle, high school, or college-level educational setting, summer camp, museum, historic site, or equivalent. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, will also be considered. Valid driver's license CPR and First Aid Certification (within 45 days of employment) Preferred Qualifications, in addition to the above minimum qualifications
