Applications received in response to this announcement will be used to fill Intermittent Office and Administration Specialist-Intermediate (OAS Int.) vacancies at the MN State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) and/or the MN State Academy for the Blind (MSAB) for the 2026-2027 school year.

The work schedule follows the school calendar and may include 3 weeks in July for the summer school program.

Applicants submitting resumes to this announcement will be in a pool of candidates considered throughout the school year.

  • You will be called in on an as needed basis to fill behind current MSA employees.

  • Must be available to work 6-to-8-hours per shift when called upon

  • This position is not eligible for benefits.

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support services to a supervisor and/or director and the staff members in the education department.

Job duties include:

  • Provide assistance and direction in a variety of office tasks to ensure efficiency, communication, and productivity in the department.

  • Responsible for student and staff attendance on the MSAB and/or MSAD campus - receives calls in the morning and ensures sub-coverage; communication with transportation companies and Faribault Public Schools, communication between related services and interpreters as needed.

  • Responsible for daily attendance of all absences, informs substitute teacher or paraprofessional regarding changes, and transmits lesson plans and instructional materials.

  • Must have strong organizational skills to maintain calendars, schedules, and office records.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in office administration, including handling phone calls, emails, and communication with various stakeholders as well as strong communication skills to interact with students, families, interagency partners, and staff.

  • Experience in customer service duties and practices

  • Skills in using specialized computer systems sufficient to accurately and effectively update data (examples are Microsoft Office, Word, Google and Excel).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Blind/Visually Impaired and/or and Deaf/Blind individuals in an educational setting.

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (if working on the MSAD campus)

  • Experience preparing and distributing mass communication announcements (e.g., daily announcements).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and to be able to sit, stand and walk throughout a workday.

  • Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check within the past 12 months
