Janitor Position Summary

Schedule:Full Time, First Shift (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM; hours may vary based on program needs

Pay:Starting at $17.50/hr.

Location:Broome County, NY

Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of agency facilities and grounds. This position performs routine custodial duties, assists with minor maintenance tasks, and may provide guidance to junior-level staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Maintain cleanliness of offices, conference rooms, bathrooms, training rooms, hallways, and common areas

  • Perform routine custodial duties including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, floor stripping and waxing, and window cleaning

  • Restock and maintain restroom supplies and ensure restroom cleanliness and sanitation

  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout facilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of building entrances, sidewalks, walkways, and grounds, including snow and debris removal

  • Change light bulbs and report facility safety concerns or maintenance needs

  • Assist with inventory and organization of janitorial supplies

  • Perform minor maintenance and facility support tasks as assigned, including painting, grounds cleanup, and basic repairs

  • Travel between agency facilities as needed to complete assigned work

  • Provide guidance and support to junior-level janitorial staff when assigned

  • Operate floor care equipment and utilize cleaning products safely and effectively

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience working in the field of janitorial care preferred

  • Possession of a valid New York State Driver’s License and a good driving record that meets the guidelines of the agency’s insurance carrier
