Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Non-Driving | Orangevale, CA | $23/Hour

Make a Difference Every Day Supporting Adolescents with Developmental Disabilities

We are seeking 2 compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join a dedicated team in a 4-resident group home in Orangevale, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are passionate about creating positive outcomes and meaningful connections.

Position Details

  • Position: Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Non-Driving

  • Location: Orangevale, CA

  • Pay Rate: $23.00/hour

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week

  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks

  • Start Date: August 17, 2026

  • Openings: 2

Available Shifts

  • PM Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

  • NOC Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

  • Weekday schedules available

About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide direct care and behavioral support to adolescents with developmental disabilities and complex behavioral needs. Working in a structured residential environment, you will help residents build independence, maintain daily routines, and achieve personal goals while ensuring a safe and supportive living space.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision to adolescents with developmental disabilities.

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal care needs.

  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and individualized support strategies.

  • Identify behavioral triggers and utilize appropriate de-escalation techniques.

  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and safe home environment.

  • Collaborate with team members to support resident goals and overall well-being.

  • Document and communicate resident progress and significant events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 6 months of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD).

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

  • Reliable, patient, and compassionate approach to care.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with the following backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply:

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

  • Paraeducator

  • Residential programs

  • Day programs

  • Behavioral support roles serving individuals with IDD

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience

  • Experience supporting individuals with severe behavioral challenges

  • Knowledge of behavioral intervention and crisis prevention techniques

Important Note

This position is specifically seeking candidates with experience aligned with ABA-based practices and developmental disability services . Applicants whose experience is limited to psychiatric hospitals, general caregiving, or non-ABA mental health settings may not meet client requirements.

The Direct Support Personnel I assists individuals with intellectual disabilities or mental health challenges with growth and development of interpersonal skills and activities of daily living in the home, community or residential setting. The Direct Support Personnel I works directly with the resident and provides supports for activities of daily living and adaptive skills. The Direct Support Personnel I should follow the guidance of the resident/ patients Individual Service Plan.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or its equivalent

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health Certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks
