Job Title: Packaging Operator (Packer)

1st 6am- 2:30pm Mon-Fri

2nd 2pm - 10:30pm Mon-Fri

Job Description

The Packaging Operator is responsible for the final packaging of flavor products, including powders, spray-dried materials, liquids, emulsions, and extracts, in accordance with directions on each batch ticket. This role works closely with Batch Processors to ensure every batch is packaged with a strong focus on food safety, product quality, efficiency, and accuracy. The Packaging Operator may operate equipment such as mixers, spray dryers, blending tanks, and material-handling tools, and must consistently package the correct finished product quantity with the appropriate labels and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Package flavor products (powders, spray-dried materials, liquids, emulsions, and extracts) according to instructions on each batch ticket.

  • Work closely with Batch Processors to coordinate batch packaging with a focus on food safety, quality, efficiency, and accuracy.

  • Operate production equipment such as mixers, spray dryers, blending tanks, pallet jacks, and sit-down forklifts as needed.

  • Observe production processes and monitor equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation.

  • Record operational and production data accurately on specified forms and logs.

  • Transfer materials, supplies, and finished products between work areas using appropriate equipment, including sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks.

  • Read and interpret labels and batch documentation to ensure correct product, quantity, and label requirements are met.

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including those related to production, packaging, and sanitation.

  • Perform sanitation and cleaning of equipment and work areas after each batch to maintain food safety and GMP standards.

  • Understand the impact and importance of food safety in the production process and finished products.

  • Communicate any food safety concerns or quality issues promptly to shift leads or management.

  • Assist with general labor tasks such as packing, stacking, palletizing, loading, picking, assembly, and labeling as required.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and safe operation of material-handling equipment.

  • Rotate between tasks such as moving boxes, zip-tying bags, and other packaging activities to support team workflows

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wauconda, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
