Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (40 hours/week) with occasional long hours and weekend work. Extended out-of-town travel (up to 8 weeks) expected.

The Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at construction project sites. The position operates a variety of hand and power tools, digs trenches, installs silt fence, installs straw mat, applies seed and straw, lays sod, mows and trims, cleans streets and job sites, removes waste materials, and assists other workers. The Laborer follows directions, maintains high-quality standards, practices strict safety procedures, and works effectively as part of a crew.
Essential Functions / Duties

Install silt fence correctly: dig trench 4–6 inches deep, set posts tightly, install fence tightly, and backfill correctly.

Install straw mat correctly: dig trench at top of slope, place edge in trench and bury, run mat parallel to slope, and install pins at correct spacing.

Apply seed and straw correctly: apply seed and fertilizer under straw at 100–150 pounds of seed per acre and 50–75 pounds of fertilizer per acre; when applied by hand, avoid clumping.

Lay sod correctly: drive the path on sod fields, ensure no seams run together, lay perpendicular to the slope, pin if slope is steep, and butt all seams tightly together.

Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on construction projects, including digging trenches, shoveling, street cleaning, mowing and trimming, and cleaning up rubble and debris.

Effectively operate a variety of hand and power tools (picks, shovels, sledge hammers, etc.).

Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.

Hammer stakes, load and unload trucks, and haul and hoist materials.

Follow directions and specific checklists for daily and job-specific work; perform job duties and follow company policies and procedures.

Be at work on time and ready for work: clock in and out on time; complete personal tasks before or after work hours.

Ensure proper safety practices and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times; report problems to the Crew Leader or Owner.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time, and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and a strong back, and be able to meet the physical demands of the job: lifting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, etc., under adverse field conditions.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. This position sometimes requires long hours and weekend work.
