Full job description

Job Duties

The New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Firefighters. This is a rewarding opportunity to serve your community by responding to fires, rescues, medical emergencies, and other incidents while participating in regular training and maintaining firefighting equipment. Members must respond to at least 45% of fire calls and attend 65% of meetings and training sessions.

Interviews will be conducted in September 2026.

Minimum Education Required

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid driver's license, and reside within a 10-minute drive of the New Ulm Fire Station.

Job Benefits

Volunteer firefighters receive $15 per emergency call (paid annually) and earn an $8,000 pension credit for each year of service. Members become vested after 10 years and can earn up to $160,000 after 20 years of service.
