Full job description

Under the guidance of a Laboratory Technologist and/or Technician, the Laboratory Assistant supports the processing of patient specimens and performs routine tasks within the laboratory. This role is essential in maintaining an efficient workflow and ensuring quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the technical processing of patient specimens under supervision

  • Perform specimen set-up and preparation within the Microbiology department

  • Conduct routine quality control (QC) procedures as assigned

  • Accurately record and monitor temperatures of refrigerators and incubators

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Basic knowledge of technical procedures within a laboratory setting preferred.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a clinical laboratory setting with exposure to biological specimens and laboratory equipment.
