Why is this Respiratory Therapist role different

This role offers a strong balance between branch-based work and limited travel, with very low on-call activity despite nightly coverage. It is ideal for experienced RTs who value stability, teamwork, and hands-on patient care in a supportive environment.

Key highlights

  • Work Arrangement: On-site in the branch. Possible travel to other branches if needed.

  • Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, part time.

  • Driving Distance: Up to 1.5 hours from branch; occasional support to Columbus, NC.

  • Reimbursements: Mileage $0.70, parking, tolls.

Salary range

  • $24 – $28 per hour. Compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.

On-Call transparency

  • Nightly on-call coverage with minimal activity; most calls are handled by phone.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow‑ups.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

  • Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and escalate concerns appropriately.

  • Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs,

  • Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams.

  • Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop.

  • Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation.

  • Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.

  • Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs.

  • Performs other duties as required.

What we look for

  • Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist with an active SC RT license.

  • Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 – 50 lbs.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy or Registered Nurse program.

Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations

  • Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy.

  • Hold a current CPR Certification.

  • Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice.
