Position Summary:
The Senior Molding Technician (LIM/LSR) position is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of Liquid Injection Molding (LIM) and Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) molding equipment used to manufacture high-quality medical device components in a regulated cleanroom environment.This position plays a key role in ensuring production meets safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery requirements.
The Sr. Molding Technician is a technical resource for the manufacturing team by providing guidance to operators, supporting engineering initiatives, assisting with process improvements, and helping resolve manufacturing and equipment issues. The position requires independent decision-making, strong technical aptitude, and a commitment to continuous improvement and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Equipment Operations
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot LIM/LSR injection and transfer silicone molding presses along with associated equipment
Perform Installation Qualification (IQ) activities by ensuring molding presses are configured according to engineering specifications and validation protocols
Establish production processes using approved machine programs, travelers, parameter sheets, and work instructions
Follow all machine startup, shutdown, and operational procedures while maintaining a safe work environment
Perform workstation setup using established tooling and validated process parameters
Operate molding equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining productivity goals
Assist with preventive maintenance activities and support facility-related equipment projects as needed
Quality & Documentation
Perform in-process inspections in accordance with Process Control Documents, drawings, and work instructions
Accurately complete molding travelers and maintain all production documentation using Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
Recognize quality concerns and promptly communicate issues to Quality Assurance or Production Leadership
Comply with all company quality systems, cGMP requirements, safety policies, and standard operating procedures
Assist in maintaining and improving Process Control Documents, Parameter Sheets, Work Instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures
Technical Support & Continuous Improvement
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to troubleshoot technical issues
Assist engineers with process development, parameter adjustments, tooling evaluations, and product development activities
Document engineering trials and development work accurately
Provide recommendations regarding tooling design, equipment improvements, processing methods, programming requirements, and inspection techniques
Assist with the development of manufacturing costs, processes, and documentation for new or modified products
Leadership & Training
Be a SME for lower-level molding operators and manufacturing personnel
Communicate production status, priorities, and expectations during shift transitions
Promote teamwork and collaboration across production shifts
Perform assigned responsibilities independently with minimal supervision
Inventory & Materials Management
Manage material transactions by accurately scanning materials into and out of the ERP/MRP system
Ensure proper material handling, storage, and inventory accuracy throughout the production process
General Responsibilities
Maintain professionalism while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities
Work overtime as needed to support production requirements
Complies with company, quality, and safety standards, policies, and procedures

Must Have:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years' Manufacturing Technician Experience, preferably in the medical device industry
Minimum of 2 years' experience operating LIM/LSR molding equipment
Experience working in a Cleanroom environment
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience setting up and operating silicone molding presses
Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Moderate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, decimals, percentages, and production rates
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
Ability to learn new technologies and manufacturing processes
Ability to use microscopes and precision inspection equipment
Ability to stand for extended periods of time during the scheduled shift hours
Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and use hand tools
Ability to work in a cleanroom manufacturing environment
Ability to occasionally work overtime based on production needs
Good to Have:
Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
Experience supporting engineering projects and process development.
Technical report writing experience
Experience performing metallurgical cross-sections or similar technical evaluations.
Previous experience training or mentoring manufacturing operators
Shift Hours/Days: 5:00AM-3:30PM, M-Th.
Hourly Pay Range: $31 - $40.50, based on experience and qualifications
