The Staff Accountant participates in the month-end and year-end close processes. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Variance Analysis, Forecasting, Journal Entries and Budgeting. In addition, this position assists in providing data to both Internal Audit and External Audit and supports ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.

This is currently a hybrid role based in our Westbury, NY office.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review and process invoices associated with Occupancy costs to ensure that the Landlord is in lease compliance with their billings

  • Prepare and monitor required support to internal/external auditors

  • Prepare Monthly Account Reconciliations

  • Prepare Monthly Variance Analysis

  • Prepare Forecasts Monthly/Quarterly

  • Prepare Annual Budgets

  • Review fully executed lease renewals/options and prepare the department’s checklist to ensure all lease terms have been abstracted properly in our 3rd party leasing system

  • Direct Pays

  • Assist with department’s day-to-day responsibilities and ad-hoc projects as needed

  • Prepare Monthly Bank Examiner Analysis

  • Prepare Monthly Journal Entries

  • Review and process landlord statements for escrow changes

  • Collaborate on ad-hoc projects and support teammates on additional tasks as needed to assist in achieving our collective goals

  • Direct Pays - process monthly real estate tax bills paid directly to various municipalities.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field is required

  • Two years’ work experience in the accounting field with analysis experience required

  • Proficient Excel Skills

  • Extremely detailed-oriented, self-motivated, independent and proactive

  • This role is based out of our Westbury, NY office and requires being willing and able to reliably commute into the Westbury office.

An employee in this position can expect an annual starting rate between $65,000 - $75,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
