Job Title: Corn Sorter Job Description

Join a leading agricultural company that is committed to helping farmers feed the world while protecting the planet. As a Corn Sorter, you will work in a safe and fast-paced environment, assisting in the sorting of corn to ensure high-quality seed production during the harvest season.

Responsibilities

  • Sort corn to maintain the quality of seed, removing discard waste, and returning cobs needing re-husking.

  • Move undamaged seed forward in the drying process to increase quality.

  • Abide by safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the work environment by sweeping and removing debris.

  • Identify off-type ears, wet or immature ears, moldy ears, insect damage, husk ribbon, rogue ears, crop debris, and junk.

  • Assist with kernel cleaning process during material changes.

  • Report any accidents or safety violations immediately and participate in incident investigations if necessary.

  • Maintain cleanliness of break rooms by cleaning up after yourself.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to work with hands at a quick pace.

  • Capability to stand or sit on an elevated chair for the duration of the shift.

  • Experience working on a moving conveyor belt.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • No previous medical surveillance testing required.

Work Environment

Work is conducted on-site with shifts of 6 days a week, 8 hours per day. Two shifts are available: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM and 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM. The environment involves potential exposure to plant allergens such as corn dust. Employees must adhere to a dress code of long pants, closed-toe and closed-heel shoes, and a shirt with sleeves covering the shoulders. PPE, including safety eyewear, will be provided.

This is a Contract position based out of Switz City, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
