Position Summary:
Assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates direct patient care to patients in the Behavioral Health Unit. Assures the quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the Michigannurse Practice Act, McLaren Lapeer Region, and nursing department standards. Utilizing the nursing process, functions primarily in direct patient care. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient rights. Begins leadership and preceptor participation when performance demonstrates ability.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Conducts, documents, and communicates patient assessments

Observes patient behavior and reports potential problem situations to Charge Nurse and physicians

Administers medications to patient as directed and documents in patient chart
Required:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Must possess valid State of Michigan Nursing License

BLS certified within 30 days of hire

CPI within 6 months of hire
Preferred:
-
Previous work experience in inpatient psychiatric nursing

Minimum 1 year of experience as staff nurse
