Position Title: Student Assistant in BHST Division: Science Laboratories

Number of Positions: 1

Reporting Structure and Supervision: Amanda Talaba [email protected]

Main Focus of position: Provide support in the Business, Health, Sciences and Technology Division: Johnson Hall Science Laboratory prep

Responsibilities:

  • Washing glassware/general cleaning in JH laboratories

  • Supply inventory and organization

  • aquarium maintenance/fish care assistance (2 cichlid tanks)

  • greenhouse: plant care

  • basic laboratory work as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Moderate computer usage skills including email and Teams. Must reliably communicate and check email.

  • Must be dependable, personable, and able to work independently where necessary

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols

  • Science/health major or strong interest in science/health fields

Additional Information:

  • Hours/days flexible (to be determined) with student's schedule, between 8am and 4pm

  • Job will include training in basic science laboratory techniques as needed including:

-preparing solutions

-preparing bacterial culture media/sterile technique

-fruit fly culture
