Full job description

Job Duties

  • Oversee the implementation of the church’s vision and assist the Senior Pastor and the Leadership team with the ministry of the church.

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with people who demonstrate a passion and gift to serve in the church.

  • Lead weekly small group Bible study (online or in-person).

  • Applying knowledge of the Bible, create, curate, and post digital content to supplement the in-person experience of Ethiopian Evangelical Church attendees with the goal of connecting them with the body of Christ.

  • Provide support for upcoming church sponsored events, studies, trainings, and other initiatives.

  • Keep Senior Pastor informed of organizational and ministry developments.

  • In collaboration with outreach ministry, support evangelism outreach events and domestic/international short-term mission trips which includes planning, praying for and participating in local evangelical (gospel) outreach, supporting logistics, facilitating active involvement of church members, and coordinating/developing annual missions ministry budget.

  • Participate in ministry meetings and work with the Leadership Team to accomplish the overall vision of the church.

  • Support various ministry functions including the financial processes of the church, media and technology, and operational procedures for the church enabling all church ministries to function effectively. This includes but is not limited to:

o Managing finances and developing biblical stewardship.

o Meeting with volunteer accountant weekly to review the church’s finances.

o Creating the annual budget with input from the Leadership and Ministry teams.

o Reviewing monthly expenses and meeting with staff and Ministry Leaders as needed to evaluate spending.

o Working with the Leadership Team to onboard new employees into policies and practices.

o In collaboration with the technology team, evaluate the church’s existing technology, identify technology needs including needed updates and make recommendations to the Leadership Team.

  • Ensure communication from local, state, and federal authorities is addressed promptly.

  • Ensure monthly payroll is processed and all required tax filings are completed by outside vender.

Minimum Education Required

Master’s degree in Biblical Studies, Leadership, Administration, Information Technology Management, Management Information Systems or related field OR a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, Leadership, Administration, Information Technology Management, Management Information Systems or related field plus five years post bachelors degree progressive experience in leadership and management in a corporate or non-profit setting.

Minimum Experience Required

  • 3 years Project Management experience in a church/non-profit setting or business/corporate setting across multiple platforms (will accept someone who obtained this skill in a university level class, if only holding a master’s degree).

  • Amharic Language (oral and written)

  • Understanding of Internet technologies, web development and integration, business IT systems, E-mail systems, operating systems, database systems, office applications, and media delivery systems (will accept someone who gained this understanding in a university level class, if holding a master’s degree).

  • Experience in budgeting and accounting (will accept someone who obtained this skill in a university level class, if holding a master’s degree).

  • Knowledge of budgeting/accounting computer software (will accept someone who gained this knowledge in a university level class, if holding a master’s degree).

  • Need to be a committed Christian.
