About the Position: This position is located at A.T. Augusta Medical Center at Fort Belvoir, VA 22060 This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

• Manages Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation advising leadership on adverse findings.
• Principal advisor on credentialing and privileging.
• Serve as a core member of the Credentials Committee and conducts regular audits to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and Defense Health Agency (DHA) standards.
• Conduct analytical studies to evaluate the efficiency and quality of the credentialing workflows and provider oversight programs.
• Apply methodologies like Lean and Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles to map workflows, target operational bottlenecks (such as credentialing cycle times), and implement sustainable quality enhancements.
• Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to report status updates directly to leadership.
• Maintain dashboards (e.g., in CCQAS or local tracking systems) to report status updates directly to leadership.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working in a medical treatment facility with various databases; analyzing data; possessing a comprehensive knowledge of health care credentialing, privileging principles. clinical quality assurance, and Joint Commission Standards; deep understanding of DHA policies, medical staff bylaws, committee structures, and administrative law protocols regarding adverse actions; utilizing independent evaluation techniques to gather data, identify trends, and compile performance metrics (OPPE/FPPE); briefing upper leadership; managing delicate provider-relations issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in contracting.. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
