Special Education Teacher (Kindergarten ASD Classroom)

Start Date: August 31, 2026

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-3:30 PM

Hours: 32.5 hours/week

Contract Length: 39 Weeks

Pay Rate: Up to $50/hour

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support a classroom of 7-8 kindergarten students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and intellectual disabilities . The classroom is supported by 2 paraprofessionals and focuses on individualized instruction, structured routines, and student growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IEP-aligned lesson plans.

  • Provide instruction in academic, social, and functional skills.

  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and school staff.

  • Monitor student progress and maintain documentation.

  • Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Communicate regularly with families and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts Special Education teaching license (appropriate grade level).

  • Experience working with students with ASD and intellectual disabilities preferred.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred

  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

  • Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

  • State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

  • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
