Full job description
Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Lab Technician I for their Calabasas Hills, CA location. Responsibilities:

Assists in specimen testing under direct and constant supervision according to established procedures, working under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and in compliance with CA regulatory restrictions. Uses automated and/or digital devices such as timers or thermometers in performing tasks.

Records dates of receipt, in use, and expiration for all reagents, kits, controls, and standards used for assigned assays. Ensures material used is not expired prior to use.

Pipettes using pre-set devices, calibrated and approved automatic devices or fixed volume dispensers.

Performs, under direct supervision, preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment, documents PM appropriately, makes minor repairs and immediately contacts appropriate personnel for problems requiring more complex repairs.

Develops an ever-increasing understanding of laboratory medicine and the clinical significance of laboratory results.

Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.

Documents all activities as necessary using good documentation practices (Examples include preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control) to ensure regulatory compliance.

Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job related duties requested by department management.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology or related fields of science from an accredited institution which includes a minimum 12 semester hours of chemistry preferably including at least one course of organic chemistry.

None required. Previous laboratory experience in an academic or commercial environment is preferred.

There is regular exposure to potential blood-borne pathogens, toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation.
