Human Resources Director Position Summary:

The Human Resources Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day human resources operations for Home Helpers Home Care while fostering a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace culture. This leadership role oversees all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, compliance, employee development, performance management, coaching, retention, and employee relations.

The Human Resources Director serves as a trusted resource for employees and leadership, ensuring the organization attracts, develops, and retains exceptional caregivers and office staff who are committed to providing outstanding care to our clients.

Essential Responsibilities

Leadership & Office Management

  • Provide daily leadership and support to office staff and caregivers.

  • Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.

  • Assist in developing and implementing company policies and procedures.

  • Partner with leadership to establish organizational goals and workforce strategies.

  • Foster accountability while maintaining a culture of respect, recognition, and continuous improvement. Recruitment & Hiring

  • Develop and execute recruiting strategies to attract high-quality caregiver and office staff candidates.

  • Manage the full recruitment process from sourcing through job offers.

  • Conduct phone screens, interviews, reference checks, and hiring recommendations.

  • Build relationships with community organizations, schools, job fairs, and referral sources.

  • Monitor recruitment metrics and hiring effectiveness. Onboarding & Orientation

  • Coordinate all pre-employment requirements.

  • Ensure completion of background checks, employment eligibility verification, and required documentation.

  • Lead new hire orientation and onboarding.

  • Ensure employees understand company expectations, policies, procedures, and culture.

  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure successful integration of new employees. Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Ensure employee files remain complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

  • Monitor required certifications, training, and employment documentation.

  • Oversee policy acknowledgments and regulatory compliance.

  • Assist during licensing reviews, surveys, and audits as needed. Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns and workplace issues.

  • Conduct employee coaching sessions focused on performance improvement and professional development.

  • Complete employee evaluations and performance reviews.

  • Develop performance improvement plans when necessary.

  • Maintain documentation related to employee performance.

  • Investigate employee concerns while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Corrective Action

  • Provide coaching and counseling to employees regarding performance expectations.

  • Prepare and deliver verbal warnings, written warnings, and other corrective action documentation.

  • Collaborate with leadership regarding disciplinary actions when appropriate.

  • Ensure corrective actions are fair, consistent, and aligned with company policies. Employee Retention & Engagement

  • Develop initiatives to improve employee satisfaction and retention.

  • Conduct stay interviews and exit interviews to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Coordinate employee recognition programs and engagement activities.

  • Monitor turnover trends and recommend retention strategies.

  • Foster an environment where employees feel supported, valued, and empowered. Training & Development

  • Identify training needs across the organization.

  • Coordinate ongoing education and professional development opportunities.

  • Support leadership development and succession planning.

  • Encourage continuous learning and career growth for caregivers and office staff. Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Scheduling, Client Services, and Leadership teams.

  • Support managers with employee coaching and performance discussions.

  • Assist with staffing initiatives to ensure quality client care.

  • Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning.

  • Assisting Leadership in tracking KPIs Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in healthcare or home care.

  • Previous leadership or management experience required.

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.

  • Experience with recruiting, onboarding, compliance, performance management, and employee relations.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/applicant tracking systems. Preferred Skills
