Seed Pipeline Delivery Lead

As a Seed Pipeline Delivery Lead based in St. Louis, MO, you play a pivotal role in shaping Bayer’s global Seed Production Innovation (SPI) strategy to deliver a robust, future-ready pipeline; You develop and drive a global SPI strategy that optimizes cost of goods, enables new traits and product concepts, and defines advanced testing approaches that keep Bayer at the forefront of agricultural innovation; You work across R&D, Commercial, and Product Supply to align global priorities and outcomes, ensuring that seed and trait advancement processes are tightly connected to business needs and customer value; As a key member of the Seed Production Innovation Leadership Team, you guide decisions from a Product Supply perspective, helping Bayer deliver reliable, high-quality products that support our vision of health for all, hunger for none.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Pipeline Delivery Lead, are to:

  • Develop and drive the global SPI strategy to deliver the pipeline, including optimization for cost of goods, enabling new traits and product concepts, and defining a future-ready testing strategy;

  • Align global priorities and desired outcomes with regional work leads and key stakeholders across R&D, Commercial, and Product Supply;

  • Lead global pipeline delivery teams to execute strategic priorities and deliver on global objectives;

  • Serve as the primary connection to L3 product teams, representing Product Supply and SPI to understand business priorities and guide decisions from a Product Supply perspective;

  • Identify overlaps and gaps across initiatives to address customer challenges related to cost, reliability, producibility, and quality, while securing prioritization and accountability for best-in-class solutions;

  • Partner with SPI leaders, R&D functions, and Product Supply teams to drive collaboration across platforms and technologies, ensuring cross-functional expertise and fostering scientific and production excellence;

  • Contribute as a member of the Seed Production Innovation Leadership Team, actively shaping strategy and championing innovation across the organization.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or MS with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or BS with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in Seed or Plant Physiology or a related field;

  • Demonstrated success in developing and carrying out strategic plans in complex, global environments;

  • In-depth knowledge of current seed and trait advancement processes and how they connect to end-to-end pipeline delivery;

  • Strong understanding of Bayer’s overall business strategy and how each organization’s work contributes to achieving business objectives;

  • Strong influencing skills, with experience managing high-risk, high-reward projects and driving alignment across diverse stakeholder groups;

  • Experience leading teams with both formal and informal authority on a global scale, adhering to project delivery and budget timelines;

  • Ability to stay on top of developments in the marketplace inside and outside the agricultural industry, and to translate market insights into strategic actions;

  • Demonstrated success leading teams that influence stakeholders to adopt value-added technology and deliver measurable business impact.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $172,000- $259,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
