The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The USAC Rail Key Account Manager for Rail Operators will be responsible for driving sales, 3M product specifications, and building the opportunity pipeline with key rail OEM and rail operators in the United States and Canada (USAC). The USAC Key Account Manager will drive sales at key rail OEM and operators in USAC and will need to build relationships at all customer organizational levels. This position also will need to collaborate with the area commercial teams to ensure sales coverage at local rail operators and ensure local convertor support for projects. This role will need to provide monthly sales forecasts for their accounts.

Below are the key responsibilities for this role:

  • Build deep relationships with key stakeholders at all levels

  • Detailed account level mapping inclusive of the Rail Operating company vendors for MRO (maintenance, repair, etc), leasing and infrastructure agencies

  • Gather and analyze key insights on USAC rail customer needs, plans, and future plans

  • Build and nurture executive management relationships, starting from pain points and leveraging 3M executive visits

  • Win and drive 3M product specifications at both USAC rail OEMs and operators

  • Track sales, opportunities, and demand for key customers

  • Drive and execute engagement/collaboration opportunities, including exploration workshops, tech days, etc.

  • Help vertical product portfolio team in gathering customer insights, identifying gaps, future solution roadmaps and new product opportunities

  • Ensure sales coverage for rail operators

  • Leverage application engineers and quality teams as innovation partners to solve complex problems for USAC rail customers

  • Share best practices with commercial teams for driving growth

  • Work with rail vertical leadership to develop sales objectives and operational plans for USAC

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree of higher (completed and verified prior to start)

  • Five (5) years of experience in sales or key accounts in a private, public, government or military environment

  • Two (2) years of experience in working with government or semi-government agencies

  • Two (2) years of experience in creating annual account growth plans & working with Salesforce

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed further in this role include:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, listening and collaboration skills

  • Self-motivated

  • Experience in selling into the rail market

  • Experience in selling into OEM customers

  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams

Work location:

  • Remote in one of the following locations: Minnesota, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey and New York

Travel: May include 40-50% domestic

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $164,612 - $201,193, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
